Hellz headbangers !! As I didn’t know your band till I receive the excellent "Winds of war" please introduce your band, the line-up to the readers..

KULT was conceived in 2002 by Werewolf (Bloodtide) and Kacele. The band had tired of the new wave of symphonic black metal and wanted to play raw Black Metal without female vocals and keyboards. During 2003, the end of that year, French label Ewiger Hass Productions printed KULT’s first and only demo tape ‘Darkness Return’, which received an enthusiastic response and sold out within three months. Between 2004 and 2005 I have created the riffs for this new album "Winds of War". The line up is composed by Werewolf (Lyrics-Vocals) and me (Guitars).For the live dates and the recording sessions we search a drummer and a bassplayer to help us. Now we have found a stable line up with them but anyhow I will write all music and W. will make lyrics as our tradition want.

KULT is a rather young band but it seems that you’re a real live band. And this is how it’s meant to be ! How does a KULT gig look like ? What about the next stage destruction with mighty INQUISITION ?

I’m very happy to play with INQUISITION because I like very much them. I don’t like the approach of Italians with Italian bands. It seems that nobody is interested in bands that come from their country. So I don’t like to make many gigs in Italy because there aren’t good stages and the people is few and stand still.

Aaargh I have to say that "Winds of war" is an astonishing debut album, especially for this old school and very catchy parts that make bang my head til neckbreak ! Who did write the songs ? How do you work as a band ?

Thanks, I have made all music except 2 riffs made by our ex bass player. We work this way : I make the riffs at home thinking a time of drums, after in reharshal we will try with voice and bass.

Speaking about catchy black metal I found (but maybe I’m totally deaf) some influences of BATHORY, DARKTHONE or even VENOM when listening to your album. Who are the bands who did make you worship black metal ?

The bands are GORGOROTH, TAAKE, DODHEIMSGARD, ULVER, BATHORY, WAR, first KATATONIA, CARPATHIAN FOREST when they were serious. But when Kult is born we hadn’t intention to make success ! For us the most important was to create a true black metal band in our city because we were tired of see black metal bands NOT playing black metal. Only Face painting, candles keyboards and other stuffs. I don’t dislike keyboards and I’m also open-minded about music but if you have an image as a black metal band play black metal and don’t assume as an Idiot.

Italia’s always had a good metal scene regarding excellent acts like BULLDOZER, NECRODEATH, ALTAR OF PERVERSION, MORTUARY DRAPE, GOATFIRE, NEFAS or HATEWORK. Please tell us some more names of new bands we should check out. Is it easy to set up / play gigs in Italy ? Is there some festival (except the huge Gods of Metal of corpse) we should visit ?

I can advice to you : GOSFORTH, TENEBRA IN PERPETUUM, SPITE EXTREME WING, ABORYM, HANDFUL OF HATE, IMAGO MORTIS. There are other bands but I haven’t listened to some stuff. In Italy is not easy to set up a gig because there are few clubs and the most of times they don’t give to you the saturday evening or friday because is assicured that the people came to see the fucking cover bands of Italian trendy rock. In Italy there are other festivals but not popular as Gods of metal and they change everytime name.

I slowly am very fed up with this trendy wave of WWII pictures artworks, I almost hate them, especially the Auschwitz and the likes ones but your artwork is different as it features if I’m not wrong Russian soldiers, maybe these are Finland War pictures ?

These pictures are taken by the second world war in Russia.

Please tell us more about that. Why did you choose these pictures ?

I have chosen these photos because they are professional, original and cruel. It’s a question of quality and splendour.

I think black metal isn’t only music but a way of life, a philosophy. Is there an ideology (this word suck isn’t it ?) between your band / music ? Do you practice occult rituals ? How would you define your own satanism ?

I follow some pagan rituals and I read some books of esoterism, satanism but I think I’m nihilist and atheist so I can’t say much...

As I deeply respect the individuals behind Debemur Morti Prods, I’d like to know how you did get in touch with them ?

I have sent my CD to them because I think they have a good label and for us is perfect. After some times the guy of DMP have contacted me and give me his disponibility.

What do you think about their neverending underground support ? And about the bands from their roster ?

I think that they give some opportunities to unknown bands and this is good because after a good release the young band is more motivated to go more foward.

And as you’re signed on a French label, won’t you come set Paris or another French city afire ? I would be glad to see it, believe me !

Yeah, I like very much travel and if I can do with band why not ? The guys of Satan’s Millenium Records FRANCE have organized a gig for the 24th April in LYON. We will play together with INFERNO and ADULTERY...bands that we know in person and we like very much.

Speaking about France do you know there was a band named KULT in France too ? Mad Max (R. I. P.) if I remember well, called his music "morbid black noize" haha...
