All hailz ! Hey hey after a well-acclaimed MCD it’s time to tell me and my ugly readers all we wanna know about your last "March of the undead" CD ! How were the recording sessions ? Are you totally satisfied with it ? I have to say that this artwork is very impressing too !! Who did draw it ?

Mörtifico : Hell Gedeon !! Yeah, we at last released our first album “March of the Undead” through Snakebite Prods. We recorded 7 bleeding songs and intro/outro. There’s no concept behind. All the songs deal of course with death, blood and mutilation. We’re very satisfied with it yes, both with production/sound and the songs themselves (even if we would always re-arrange some things). We rehearsed a lot to make all these pieces of brutality good and we are happy with them, we like to play them. Also, during the recording sessions, we worked a lot. We recorded “March of the Undead” at WOLFSANGEL studio, the Darkhyrys’s own studio, our friend and guitarist in BLOODSHED. The recording sessions were fucking good, yeah. We didn’t have a very long time to record because of our jobs. We think the album sounds very well. I know Darkhyrys give his best to make sound our songs as hell.About the cover, yeah it kills, it’s a Japanese guy, Wang Wei, who did draw it for us (www.blizzard-art.com). Fabien of Snakebite prod put his touch of madness too. It’s a good painting for BLOODSHED, dark and disturbing and it makes raise the dead.

You once more time worked with Snakebite Productions from the Toulouse area who did in my opinion a very good work with "Warped in the macabre". Please tell us a few words about this hellish collaboration. Will you go on with them ?

We still march under the banner of Snakebite Prod and it’s a good thing for us. Morbid Rec, Relapse and Unique Leader offer us a lot of money, and young girls to fuck and maim, just to sign with them but we decided to stay with Snakebite. They are French and the headquarter is not very far from home, so it is very easy to get in touch. Moreover, Ash is a very nice guy and always tries to satisfy the band as much as he can, and I can easily feel that he and his mates are people with a killer state of mind and a real worship for Death Metal. Ash didn’t offer us bitches to mutilate for our gigs, but hopefully it should happen soon. I like their way to seek for true bands for the label. They try to keep a certain integrity and it’s a good point according to me. Too many labels got stupid bands and their “boss” doesn’t have the slightest idea of what is the true Death Metal, or even Metal. I don’t know if we will stay endlessly with Snakebite, only time will tell. I know they have some bad times because everything has a high cost. I like the idea of growing with them, and try to spread our disease in the whole world together.

As you know I’m a vinyl-addict so will it be a LP version of the album ? What do you think about LPs or in extenso underground tape versions of CD releases ? Do you like CDr and Wimp3 ?

Hey grinding Gédéon, I like vinyl too, and it would be a benediction to see our fuckin’ album on vinyl yeeaahh. I’d like to see “Warped in the Macabre” on vinyl too, and the whole work we will release in the future. "Warped..." is the better piece we did, really dark and gore, with the sound I like, it would fit perfectly a vinyl format. And you imagine the huge cover of “March of the Undead” ?? fuck it’d kills. But who is the bastard that will accept to do this ??!!! I have nothing against CD but vinyls are great, with killer artwork and a crusty sound. You speak about the tape versions and can you imagine that I’m a fuckin’tape addict ?!!! When I was young, I only had a ghetto blaster and I got a lot of tapes like IRON MAIDEN, SLAYER, METALLICA, everything on tape format. I discovered the CD at 15 ! And now, as I still don’t have much money, I still buy many stuff on tape, demos of course, but tape LP too. I like these little two-sided shit of plastic. I like tapes. Last year, I got in touch with Whatayacaporn, or something like that (soory guy, I don’t have your letters just now to spell right your name !) who created In Coffin Production. He released a bunch of great tape version like ATOMIZER, UNPURE, ANATOMY, MORBOSIDAD, INQUISITION, CULT OF DAATH, UNHOLY ARCHANGEL...only killer bands here ! I’d like to see some tape versions of BLOODSHED album yeah. CDR are shit. I spend a lot of time looking booklet and covers of CD/vinyl/tape I’m listening to, so if there’s nothing to see it’s shit.

I know that you played some gigs (I’ve seen two of them, the best for me being in Toulouse with DISGORGE [MEX])... Will you set a stage afire in support of the album ? Will Snakebite set up a tour for you ?

Up for now, we have nothing. No tour to support the album. It seems hard to do this in France and a tour is a lot of money, that’s the problem. It’s not a problem for me. I don’t care. I prefer play some shows here and there.

Integrity in the death metal scene always was (and still will be I suppose... and hope so !) an important topic for you... I’ve read good ol’ bastard Mortiifico spitting on some bands’ faces and I like to read such acid and aggressive writings ehehe ! Kill hypocrisy ! Which are the bands you support / hate and why ? Spill the blooooooood of the weak !

Yeah, integrity is important for us. It’s not an “image” we want to have, but it is natural, and important for me because too many people and bands made Metal and Death/Black Metal a joke. I grew up with Metal, and it runs in my veins you know. I hate stupid behaviour, and bands like GRONIBARD make my blood boil. All the magazines and labels that support them piss me off too. Do they need to make Metal look so ridicule, huh ? And when I see killer bands with killer songs getting hard times, and try to spread their stuff while GRONIBARD releases shitty titles with nothing behind...pfff there’s something rotten in the Metal scene.There’s just a few bands that I really like and support in France. VORACIOUS GANGRENE is dead now, it’s a shame but all their members are good guys and I have very good remembrances with them. I know a band from Nice called ADDICTED and they seem very good, playing good old Death Metal. Also DEVILIUM played good music ; I guess that’s all in France. Some bands are good, but I cannot say I support them. But generally, French metalheads are not very involved in Death/ Black Metal. They don’t know the underground scene with zines and good bands and the true spirit of dedication. The problem is that "normal" people try to get in Metal, and I hate that. They have a morality, a way of thinking, of living, of speaking the maintream way, and it’s absolutely stupid. And when I speak with these guys, they are hurt or outraged. These guys create a band or a label, and they kill the scene by imposing their stinky way of thinking. They say "huuh, you cannot say or do that, it’s bad....bla bla bla" haaaaaaaaaaa fuck you bastards, you don’t know what is Metal !! They are outraged by stufflike MEATSHITS’ “Sniper At The Fag Parade” !

Back to the "March of the undead" I would like to know more about the lyrical side of the band. As I still don’t have your texts please tell us more about that. Is it still in the macabre / gore way ? Are you influenced by movies, books or even other bands’ lyrics ? How is happening the writing work ?

Yeah, my lyrics are still in the macabre and gore way. “March of the Undead” deals with zombies, mutilation, death, blood, maggots and undead’s rise on the final days... I don’t draw my inspiration directly from horror movies, but I bath in a special atmosphere by watching movies and listening Death metal. And sure it twists my mind to write some bloody lyrics. But I’m a weird bastard you know, and I’m always thinking about death or how to kill people or strange things. Also, some lyrics have two sides. Like the “Zombie” movies, I like to see the lyrics as a reflect of reality. Go out, look at people and you will see the “undead’s march”. People are dead. They are zombies liking both everything and nothing. Their life is so useless, they live in the grave they built around them. They are all formatted to say and think the same bullshits. And this is the same for 80% of metalheads I see. They think to be different but they are just morons with the same morality than everyone. They follow stupidly the leader without thinking by themselves. They blindly eat what Metallian (and other) wants to offer them, like people eat what TV and media want to offer them. To be REALLY different is bad and not cool. Some lyrics I wrote deal with a vision/description of dead bodies, like “Maggots grinding Maggots”. I like that, there’s nothing more real than a decomposing body. It brings you back directly to reality. Some people live with the desire to have a lot of money, to have a beautiful house and to have opinion about crappy things like how to make its dog beautiful, or to know if Paris Hilton has a new skirt. haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa kill them all, and look at a twisted corpse, this is the true reality.

I found the sound of the promo brutal and clear so I wondered where the CD was recorded and who was the man behind this sound ?

Scott Burns wanted to record our stuff, but we prefer the WOLFSANGEL STUDIO. As I said in the first question, Darkhyrys is the bastard behind our sound !! He’s our friend and guitarist. It’s great to work with a fuckin’ good friend you know. Darkhyrys has a professional way of working but always with fun. He created his own studio called WOLFSANGEL STUDIO (http://www.wolfsangel-recording.fr.st/). It’s not a home studio, but a real studio with great equipment. He already recorded and produced other Metal albums (AD HOMINEM, HEGEMON...) and always looks other bands to produce. He knows how to make Death-Black Metal sounds like HELL.

Your opinion about :

- France and death metal :

I’ve already said some words about this. There are some good bands but too many useless bands too. And people are not involved enough. generally speaking, French Metal...two words combined that can’t make senses !

- Jack Daniel’s (yesssssss bourrachos !!) :

I’m not really addicted to Jack Daniel’s. I used to drink beers, it’s less expensive !! But a good night with JD is not a problem, good even !.

- MORTICIAN :

I like them. I know some people get bored by MORTICIAN and their relentless barbaric Death Metal. "They sound always the same, bla bla bla"...but fuck, they kill ! I like their album, and “Re-Animated Dead Flesh” is good too. After all these years, they still deliver heavy and bleeding Death Metal, with an underground feeling, that’s how I like it, and with everything overwhelming than everything else !!. And now that Beaujard play drums, it’s even better. haaaaa, "Ripped In Half", "Brutally Mutalited", "Hell On Earth"...aarrgghh

- Bands who don’t play live :

I don’t care. They do what they want. Playing live can be boring for me, so I understand.

- Political lyrics and metal :

I’ve no problem with this. I listen some bands that deal with (what people call) “politic”. I like and support ARGHOSLENT for example, who play old and radical Death Metal. We play extreme Metal and everyone is free to write about what he wants. It’s a proof of “artistic freedom” no ? EXTREME MUSIC FOR EXTREME PEOPLE, you know that ? And it’s a true statement, or should anyway. But when I see people wearing this shirt but thinking a guy that murders a priest or children is a nasty guy, haha !! it makes me laugh !! It’s the same with extreme points of view. Are you an "extreme people" yes or not ?? Can you wear such a shirt and say you’re really extreme ?? And it disgusts me to see so many “normal” people blaming those who have the guts to say what they want and what they believe in. Metal has always been out of conformity, with extreme people out of conformity too, and it must continue.

The death metal gigs in the South of France are rare but there are many local bands worth listening in this genre such as OUROBOROS, KABBAL, OSSUAIRE, IMPERIAL SODOMY, TRASHNASTY and others... Are you in contact with some of these bands or others (give me names !) and if yes wouldn’t it be possible to organize more events in our area whis is totally forgotten concerning tours / gigs ? Marseille, Avignon, Toulouse, Perpignan are cities to desecrate and turn to ashes !!! What about a strong association with REAL metal-addicts (bands, zines, labels) to take things in hands here ? What do you think about it ?

It would be interesting indeed to organize more gigs in our area. I think money is a problem. We have to pay for everything, like a place to play. And you cannot even be sure to see enough people. A guy from THRASHNASTY tries to organize a gig but he got problem. Anyway, it’s a good thing. It’s not easy. But it would be great to have good links between the bands, a mutual aid. The guy of Several Bleeds Rec organizes many gigs and could permit to several bands to play and show their stuff. But instead, he get play his own band EACH times, it’s stupid. A friend created the South Metal Tyrants Front who gathered good guy (perverted Metal-addict !), in order to take things in hands as you say. A circle of good guys. Under the SMTF, there’s a studio (WOLFSANGEL), some bands, zines (Kaos Kult Kommand, Franang), label (AURA MYSTIQUE) and individuals. I guess there’s something interesting to do with that. Time will tell.

Yeah, I’m in touch with some people in the South Death Metal scene, but not so many. OUROBOUROS is the band of the Snakebite Prod guys and I’m in contact with them, and you know them too ! I was in contact with a friend, who played in KABBAL, but he left them and I don’t have news anymore since some long months now. Two friends formed TWO BASTARDS and they should release something very soon. I heard about ADDICTED, a band from Nice that seem very good, playin’ good old Death ’beers’ Metal ! I know Ogmios from AURA MYSTIQUE PRODUCTION (www.auramystique.com) who is a good friend. Also I have a friend who formed DEFECT and VOMITURGY. He plays everything alone but he’s looking for members. Both are raging Death Metal act and he released two demos. For those who are interested, ask me the contact. I have some contact from guys worldwide, I’m in touch for some years now with Glenn from DESTRUKTOR in Australia, and this band kills. I often write to guys from bands, some letters or e-mail just to support them and tell them their demo or album is great.I wrote to Bruno from KRATORNAS (phillipines) just to tell him that his demo was completely mad and raging and violently storming and we are still in contact today, he should release an album soon.
